The Unforgettable Experience with Fred and Irish

On December 21^st, 2012, we started to do our final assignment to interview a native speaker. We were Kiki, Anis, Nur, and me. We went to Taman Sari, Yogyakarta. It is about 6km from our

campus. Fortunately, we met a native speaker named Fred Bogers. He came from Holland. He came with his son and a tour guide. His son named Efor. Efor usually called Irish. Irish came from Australia. He got collage there. Irish and Fred never met aboutfour years. Then, they decided to meet in Jogja. Not only for met his son, but also Fred wanted to travelling in Indonesia. This is not the first time Fred came here. Fred’s father come from Holland, but his mother is originally from Halmahera, North Maluku, Indonesia. Fred has many families in Indonesia. He said that he want to visit his family after he met his son. Fred knew a lot of Indonesia. There are several Fred’s opinions about Indonesia.

            Firstly, Indonesia is different with Holland. Holland is a small country. The length of Holland, from the south to the north is about 350km like from Jogja to Bandung. The width of Holland, from theeast to the west is about 215km like the width of Java islands. Fred said that Holland is so crowded. In Indonesia, it is like Jakarta. So, Indonesia is a large country. He also knew Jakarta and Bandung. He ever had visited to Jakarta. In Bandung, there lived Fred’s family. They lived in Cimahi. It is not far from downtown. Fred will visit them again.

            Secondly, Fred loved a lot of about Indonesia. Near Halmahera, there is a little island. There is many plants, no people there. The view is really beautiful. There is wide beach. That is his favorite place in Indonesia. Soto ayam is his favorite food. In his opinion, the taste is so delicious, but he didn’t like sagu. Maybe the taste was not suit with him. Irish also like sotoayam. He loved travelling in Indonesia, because Indonesia has many tourism attractions.

            The last, Indonesian people are so friendly. We are an example of a friendly Indonesian people, said him. The culture of Indonesia is also beautiful. Fredthought that Indonesia has a lot of historical palace. He ever saw the palace in the morning. It was so cool and nice.

            In summary, Fred really knew about Indonesia. Besides her mother is originally from Indonesia, he is also love a lot of about Indonesia. He love the area, the islands, the food, the culture,and of course Indonesian people. In my mind, Fred and Irish are also friendly. They are good people, due to the fact that they were gladly when they told about Indonesia and their country. They were really impressed with Indonesia. I was so glad and proud when they told about Indonesia. In fact, Indonesia is really beautiful country, so that tourists like Fred and Irish were really impressed with our country. Indonesia has good cultures, good people, and there are so many beautiful places in Indonesia. We as citizen of Indonesia should maintain and keep them, so that Indonesia became more famous in the world.
