Buckingham Palace is the official residence and principal workplace of the British monarch. It is located in the city of Westminster, in the middle of the crowded city of London. It is one of the most beautiful castles in the world. Although in use for many official events and receptions held
by the Queen, the state rooms at Buckingham Palace are also open to visitors every year. There are the history and facilities of Buckingham Palace.
Firstly, this is the history of Buckingham Palace. In 1703, English nobleman named Duke Buckingham built a residence called by his name, designed by William Winde. In 1761, king of English, George III bough the residence. After Queen Victoria throne in 1805, Buckingham Palace became the official residence until now.
Then, there are the facilities of the palace. Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. These include 19 state rooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 officers, a cinema, and a swimming pool. About 400 people work at the palace, including domestic servants, chefs, cleaner, gardener, etc. Queen Victoria was the first monarch to live at Buckingham Palace. The palace is very much a working building and the centerpiece of Britain’s constitutional monarchy. The palace is also the venue for great royal ceremonies, state visits, all of which are organized by royal family.
In conclusion, Buckingham Palace is amazing building. In fact, more than 50.000 people visit the palace each year as royal guest, or visitor. British citizens really love Buckingham Palace, because it includes historic building still standing until now. It is our obligation for keeping historic buildings.
